3:1 Scientific Accuracy and Participatory Design in Educational Virtual World Projects
3:1 Recording of the IJLM web panel with Beth Sanzenbacher, Field Museum, (WhyReef); Dom Raban and Juliette Buss, (Lives at War), discussing their work with educational projects in virtual worlds.
Beth Sanzenbacher, Outreach Coordinator for the Biodiversity Synthesis Group at the Field Museum and contributing author on the WhyReef Knowing & Doing article in IJLM V 3.1 will share what her team has learned about how scientific accuracy in game design fosters scientific inquiry in learners.
Dom Raban, Managing Director, Corporation Pop, Virtual Worlds developer, and Juliette Buss, Education & Participation Consultant and Project Manager, will discuss the Lives at War Virtual World project.
Year 10 students from Longhill High School in Brighton worked with older Brighton residents to collect and create stories based on personal experiences of life in Brighton and Sussex during World War 2. Virtual Worlds designer Dom Raban, in collaboration with Juliette Buss, used these oral histories to create the interactive virtual world Lives At War.
Moderated by Claudia L'Amoreaux, Curator, Connected PD, and Ruth Rominger, Director of Learning Design, Monterey Institute of Technology and Education.
